Sir Alexander Ferguson was born on the 31st December 1964 in Glasgow. Ever since his early years, he loved football and supported local giants Glasgow Rangers. Sir Alex Ferguson used to play football himself, as a striker. He started his career at amateurs Queens Park FC at the age of 16. There he spent three seasons and scored 11 goals, before he moved on to St Johnstone in 1960. At this club, he spent four seasons, scoring a total of 19 goals. In 1964, Ferguson moved to Dunfermline Athletic where he showed his abilities by scoring 66 goals in 88 appearances over three seasons. From here, he was spotted by his childhood heroes Glasgow Rangers. He joined Rangers for a record fee in 1967 and spent two seasons playing for this club, scoring 25 goals. Ferguson left Rangers after he was blamed for a goal that they conceded in the 1969 Scottish Cup final Jorge Posada Jersey  game. He joined Falkirk where he spent four seasons, making 106 appearances and scoring 37 goals. Alex Ferguson ended his playing career at Ayr United where he played only the 1973-74 season scoring 9 goals. Ferguson decided to move into management as soon as he retired. As his managing career unfolded, players who played under the Scottish disciplinarian spoke out about how frightening Sir Alex can be when the team is not playing up to its full potential. Ferguson started his career of management on a part-time basis at East Stirlingshire, where he only spent one season. He moved to St Mirren and spent four seasons managing the club, between 1974 and 1978, transforming a team of no-ones into a young team crowned as champions. Ferguson was fired in 1978, the reason reported as breaching of contract agreement and payments to players without permi sion. Ferguson was appointed manager of Aberdeen in June 1978. Although Ferguson did not bring immediate succe s to the club, he converted a team that had not won the Scottish league since 1955, into league winners in 1979-80. During his time at the club, Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners Cup and the European Super Cup. Ferguson left Aberdeen in 1986. During his final season at the club, he was also managing his home-nation Scotland in preparation for the 1986 World Cup. Sir Alex Ferguson joined Manchester United in November 1986, where he replaced Ron Atkinson as manager of the Red Devils. Until this day, Ferguson has spent an amazing 22 years at the helm of the English giants, giving no indication that he is ready to retire in the near future.  Lou Gehrig Jersey
